Giordano Acciaio

The Acciaio is one of Giordano’s low-end models that are meant for the recreational user and those who would benefit from a bike for commute purposes. It’s always a good idea to know what to expect from a bicycle that you’re spending your hard-earned money on, so when reading this Giordano Acciaio review, be aware that that the Giordano Acciaio is not a racing bike. If you’re looking for a high-end model, be sure to check out our Giordano Libero 2.0 review. However, if you’re looking for one of the best road bikes to commute around town or get some casual exercise in, the Giordano Acciaio is probably a good choice.

Giordano Acciaio

Positives
  • Good shock absorption
  • High-quality pedals

Negatives
  • Self-assembly required

This bike features a steel frame, which means that it is heavier than aluminum, but it is softer and more malleable as well, giving you better shock absorption while still maintaining the stiffness that you need to offer you stability and control. Of course, the steel frame of the Giordano Acciaio 2018 model contributes to a somewhat heavier weight, and at 30 lbs, this is not a bike you could race on.

The steel provides you with some extra pedal power and efficiency though, better than on the Giordano Rapido or some of their other low-end models. The default position of the rider on this bike also suggests that this is not a racing model. With the Acciaio you’re forced to assume a somewhat more upright position, sacrificing aerodynamics for a more casual, smooth ride.

Giordano Acciaio

Another thing we’d like to discuss in this Giordano Acciaio review are the shifters. They allow for a total of 14 speeds, which is more than enough for the casual rider and would even suffice for racing purchases. But one of the nicest surprises the Giordano Acciaio provides are the pedals. Unlike on a lot of low-end units, these are made of pure metal instead of plastic. As far as our Giordano Libero Acciaio review is concerned, this is a big plus compared to their Giordano Rapido model or even the Giordano Acciaio women’s road bike. Even though replacing pedals is an easy fix, it really makes the bike feel more professional and high-quality when you have some real resistance at your feet that plastic cannot provide.

According to the Giordano Bikes wiki page, the Acciaio is equipped with a pair of Shimano Tourney shifters. These are a step down from something like their Sora model, but they can still do the job just right and will serve you for a long time. However, there is a multitude of retailers offering replacement parts at affordable prices; Backcountry deals are a perfect case in point.

Needless to say that a model such as the Giordano Acciaio road bike can really benefit from a proper setup, so either take some time to study the Giordano Acciaio assembly instructions or take it into the shop after assembly. All in all, the Giordano Acciaio is a very good entry-level bike, with impressive quality components that will serve you well if you take care of it properly. Hopefully, this Giordano Acciaio bike review helped you make the choice you needed to make so you can finally purchase a bicycle that will be perfect for you.
