That’s why we decided to put together this guide on how to add another iCloud account to iPhone, and we’ve spiced it up with a couple of images to simplify things even more.
Keep in mind that you’ll need the Apple ID and password for each account you want to add.

Can You Have Two iCloud Accounts?
The answer is YES!
In fact, you can have as many iCloud accounts as you want. However, there are some things to keep in mind if you decide to create multiple accounts; and use them all properly.
- First, each iCloud account comes with its own 5GB of storage. So, if you own multiple accounts, you’ll probably face the obstacle of storage space, which means you’ll need to buy additional storage for each account.
- Second, you’ll need to use a different email address for each of your iCloud accounts. This can be not very pleasant, but it’s the only way to do it.
- Finally, remember that any data you sync with iCloud will be accessible from all your devices. Therefore, if you want to keep certain data private – you’ll need to use another service (like Dropbox or Google Drive).
Overall – having two or more iCloud accounts is perfectly fine and possible – just be prepared to manage them carefully.
How To Add Another Account To Your iPhone?
Adding another iCloud account to your iPhone isn’t complicated. But, you need to take each of the following steps carefully, and NEVER SKIP A STEP.
Or else the process will be unsuccessful.

Turn OFF the ‘Find My iPhone’ feature.
You’re probably wondering why you should turn OFF one of the most powerful features of your iPhone? To put it in simple words:
- To prevent data from becoming inaccessible from your device after adding another account.
- To ensure content back-up.
- To avoid potential conflicts between the multiple iCloud accounts on your iPhone.
To turn OFF the feature, go to iCloud > Settings. Here, search for “Find my device” – and simply toggle it OFF.
- After exiting, once again enter Settings > iCloud > Mail, Contacts, Calendar.
- Here, go to Add account.
- Next, choose the iCloud option since you’ll be adding a second iCloud account.
- Insert your credentials (email address of the secondary account and password).
- After logging in with your second account, in the following screen, make sure to hit OK and turn it ON now.
- You’ll leave this feature ON. However, you must turn OFF all the other features on this account.

Change the description of the newly created account.
This acts as an additional layer of protection and prevents other people (from other synced devices) from accessing your username. Thus, blocks out people that might try to steal your password and possibly other data.
This is why it’s best to pick something generic, something less obvious — maybe a feature your phone has (iCloud, settings, Accounts, etc.).
- To change the description, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > and choose your newly created account.
In the Description field, change the name following our tips.
Enabling restrictions would additionally prevent account syncing and multiple devices from obtaining and luring into each other’s data.
- Go to Settings > General, and scroll down to find the Restrictions section.
- Enable restrictions – it’s critical never to forget this 4-digit passcode!
Note: If you’re doing this to implement your account and start tracking someone’s phone, be aware that they might find out. They can spot this if they enter this field and notice the restrictions are ON.
How To Merge iCloud Accounts?
iCloud is a cloud storage and file synchronization service provided by Apple. Furthermore, with iCloud, users can store
- Photos,
- Videos,
- Documents,
- and music on remote servers, and then share them across multiple devices.
iCloud allows users also to sync calendars, contacts, and other stored data from multiple devices.
While iCloud is a convenient way to keep your files and data backed up and synced, you may find that you need two or more iCloud accounts.
If that’s the case, then there are multiple software available to download that you could use, such as Leawo and AnyTrans. And there are also two built-in iPhone options to try immediately.
Option A: Sign Out from the main Apple ID – the one you wish to transfer data from.
To ‘sign out’ from your primary Apple ID
- Go to the main Settings, and tap on the top of the page – the primary Apple ID used on your iPhone device.
- Once here, just scroll down to the bottom and click on the Sign Out button.
Note: The signing out needs to be verified with your unique Apple ID password for that particular account (careful not to mix up all the different accounts’ passwords).
- Next, you’ll be asked which data from your iCloud account you want to keep on your device.
- Make sure to toggle ON everything you wish to keep. Then, press the Sign Out button in the top right corner of your screen, and again, when asked if you’re sure you want to take action – confirm it.
- Refresh your device by restarting it. Once it turns back ON, you’ll have only one account – all the data from the previous one will be merged.
Option B: Sign in to the account you wish to sync data to.
With this step, you make the account a primary one – by syncing data from previous accounts.
- To do this, go to Settings > Sign in to your account.
Note: Make sure to use the email address and password of the Apple ID you wish to stay logged onto (further on) and use as your primary account.
- After logging in with your credentials > select Merge to sync all the data from the other account to this one.
That’s it!
Finishing Thoughts
As you can see, these built-in options are available on your iPhone. However, always make sure you know what you’re aiming for, whether it is merging two or more Apple ID accounts into one or simply using all of them from your device – simultaneously using them all.
